Inherited Rights Filter

Abbreviated IRF. In Novell Directory Services (NDS), the mechanism that controls the rights a trustee can inherit from parent directories or container objects.
Inheritance allows an assignment applied at one point to apply to everything below that point in the file and directory structure. The IRF for any file, directory, or object is a part of NetWare's access control information. In NetWare 3, the IRF was known as the Inherited Rights Mask and applied only to the file system.
